Are we a fit? 4

You hear music in your head all the time.

Sometimes it’s a song from one of your favorite artists that you keep on repeat, keeping you company through the day.

Sometimes you’re not even aware you’re singing, humming, or tapping to the beat of your inner playlist… until someone points it out—or asks you to stop.

Sometimes it’s an earworm that drives you nuts and you wish it would go away. (Tip: the best way to get rid of a tune you don’t like is to replace it with one you do.)

And sometimes, it’s a foggy notion of a song—just a little fragment your muse is sending.

Maybe it’s a snippet of a verse, a melodic hook, a compelling chord progression, or a funky rhythmic groove. But the rest hasn’t shown up yet, and it’s frustrating the hell out of you because you don’t know how to finish it.

The Search for the Underground River of Inspiration

You’re thirsty, and you know you’re close to something rich and powerful. You’ve felt little trickles of it, but you sense there’s a river running underground nearby. How do you find the flow?

You’ve probably surfed through hundreds of YouTube videos looking for clues. Maybe you’ve taken songwriting courses or tried writing prompts and journaling practices. And still… something’s missing.

Who I Serve

Budding Songwriters: You want to touch people deeply with your songs—songs that make someone stop and say, “Wow, that cracked me open.” The story that “Killing Me Softly With His Song” tells—only it’s your song this time.

You’re not here to copy someone else’s formula and churn out generic, forgettable fluff. If you wanted to do that, you could let ChatGPT write you a perfectly mediocre tune. But your soul would never be at peace with that.

You’re drawn to sharing something meaningful with the world, but it’s not fully formed yet. You’ve seen glimpses—maybe a chorus that resonates, or a lyrical moment that hits hard—but you’re still trying to connect the pieces into something that truly feels like yours.

You know that kind of soul-touching song comes from telling your truth—your lived experience, your honest emotions, your original musical ideas. But being that honest feels risky. Are you ready to let people see you as you truly are?

Heart-Centered Singers: You want to find your natural voice and sing from the heart—not get lost in overly technical approaches that disconnect you from your emotions or your body.

Beginner to Intermediate Guitar & Ukulele Players: You want to express yourself through your instrument instead of feeling clunky and mechanical in your playing. You want it to feel natural, fluid, and alive.

Getting Past the Doubts

You have a sense there’s something in you that needs to be shared—but the inner critics and old voices make you second-guess yourself.

The teacher who told you you couldn’t sing. The family member who meant well but steered you toward something “practical.” The classmates who laughed when you shared your poetry.

Now they’re voices in your own head: “Be realistic. Don’t waste your time. You’ll never get there.” “Only really talented people make it.” “You just want attention.” “Music won’t pay the bills.”

And still… something inside you won’t let it go. That’s how you know it’s real. You’re being called to this.

Is This a Fit?

Maybe you’re the kind of person who likes to figure things out on your own. I totally get that—I was, too. And while that approach can be satisfying, it can also be slow and lonely. Sometimes, it helps to work with someone who’s walked this path and can point out a shortcut or two.

If you’re like me, it matters who you turn to for help. I wouldn’t hand over my creative process to just anyone, and I don’t expect you to either.

I assume you’re highly motivated, and that you probably have your own way of connecting with inspiration. Maybe you even sense you’re being guided by something deeper. I trust you’ll do your homework, and make choices that are right for your learning style, your values, and your creative growth.
