Free Workshop This Wednesday

Whatever Is Stopping You From Writing the Song… Is the Song

Song ideas don’t always come from inspiration striking out of the blue. Very often, the most honest material is already close at hand — something we’re living with, pushing against, or quietly wrestling with.

In this workshop, we’ll turn the lens toward the experience of feeling stuck in songwriting and treat it as creative material rather than an obstacle. Instead of trying to fix or outsmart songwriter’s block, we’ll play with it, loosen our grip on it, and see what happens when we don’t take it quite so seriously.

Using simple prompts, light character work, and a few practical songwriting moves, we’ll explore how real emotions, inner voices, and everyday frustrations can become vivid, relatable song ideas when you give them some room to speak.

This is a live, interactive workshop. You don’t need to prepare anything, and there’s no expectation to finish a song. A few lines is plenty. The emphasis is on curiosity, humor, and shared exploration — not polish or performance.

Join us for a Sunset Drum Circle at Ford’s Pond!

Come gather at the magical hour of sunset along the waters of Ford’s Pond in Sutherlin. Surrounded by nature’s beauty, we’ll drum together in rhythm with the Earth, the birds, and the breeze.

Drumming is a powerful way to connect – with yourself, with each other, and with the present moment. It’s been shown to boost the immune system, quiet the busy mind, build community, and spark joy. No experience needed – everyone is welcome!

Bring your favorite thing to drum on (even a bucket will do!) We’ll also have extra percussion instruments to share.

• Bring a chair
• We start close to sunset, so come a little early to settle in
• Donations appreciated – but no one is turned away
• All ages welcome!

Let’s make music together, one heartbeat at a time.

Story & Song Workshop with Belle Shea & Sean Shea

at Read the Room, Sutherlin, OR

Music isn’t only something we hear — it’s a way of paying attention to life. Every song begins with a seed: a memory, a line of conversation, a feeling that lingers.

The evening begins with an intimate performance of Belle Shea’s new EP Vetiver, followed by a hands-on workshop exploring how personal stories can take shape as songs — discovering that place where heart meets craft.

NOTE: This event has passed – but stay tuned for similar workshops coming up…
